The Boston Marathon: Join hundreds of spectators and cheer on the runners in this year’s Boston Marathon, taking place on April 18. The oldest and best-known marathon in the world happens each year on Patriot’s Day in Boston. Fans and family members line up on Boylston Street early to get prime spots for cheering on the runners as they cross the famous finish line.
Patriots’ Day. Patriots’ Day begins with a reenactment of the Battle of Lexington, followed by historical tours, concerts, ceremonies, a movie, and a 2 p.m. parade. Our concierge can help with your travel plans to Lexington, as well as some must-see sites along the way.
The Wizard of Oz takes place at the Wang Center April 12-20. The production is an enchanting adaptation of the all-time classic, totally re-conceived for the stage. Developed from the ever popular MGM screenplay, this production contains the beloved songs from the Oscar®-winning movie score, all the favorite characters and iconic moments, plus a few surprises along the way, including new songs by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Swan Lake (April 29-May 26) at the Boston Opera House is of the most beloved and quintessential classical ballets. Swan Lake premiered in 1877 and like many of the best stories, it has been retold over the years. Russian choreographers Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov collaborated with Tchaikovsky to create the cherished version that served as Nissinen’s inspiration. While remaining true to their intent, he added choreography and reunited with award-winning designer Robert Perdziola (The Nutcracker) to create the spectacular sets and costumes.
