Boston Spring Travel

fenway-park-flyover-640-jpgSpring is one of the best times to be in Boston. From the blooming flowers in the Boston Public Gardens to the morning runs along the picturesque Esplanade, and of course, the start of our beloved Red Sox baseball season, Spring is a travel haven for tourists in Boston.

Plan your trip to Boston to see all that’s new this season. Our XV Beacon concierge offers these must-do things in April:

Return of Boston Red Sox Baseball: Boston’s beloved Boston Red Sox take the field at Fenway Park on Monday, April 11, against the Baltimore Orioles. Get in touch with our concierge for tickets to Opening Day at Fenway!

The Boston Marathon: Join hundreds of spectators and cheer on the runners in this year’s Boston Marathon, taking place on April 18. The oldest and best-known marathon in the world happens each year on Patriot’s Day in Boston. Fans and family members line up on Boylston Street early to get prime spots for cheering on the runners as they cross the famous finish line.

Patriots’ Day. Patriots’ Day begins with a reenactment of the Battle of Lexington, followed by historical tours, concerts, ceremonies, a movie, and a 2 p.m. parade. Our concierge can help with your travel plans to Lexington, as well as some must-see sites along the way.

Spring Theater:

The Wizard of Oz takes place at the Wang Center April 12-20. The production is an enchanting adaptation of the all-time classic, totally re-conceived for the stage. Developed from the ever popular MGM screenplay, this production contains the beloved songs from the Oscar®-winning movie score, all the favorite characters and iconic moments, plus a few surprises along the way, including new songs by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Swan Lake (April 29-May 26) at the Boston Opera House is of the most beloved and quintessential classical ballets. Swan Lake premiered in 1877 and like many of the best stories, it has been retold over the years. Russian choreographers Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov collaborated with Tchaikovsky to create the cherished version that served as Nissinen’s inspiration. While remaining true to their intent, he added choreography and reunited with award-winning designer Robert Perdziola (The Nutcracker) to create the spectacular sets and costumes.
