The Perfect Summer Weekend in Boston

Our expert concierge member, David Archer, has outlined the perfect summer weekend in Boston! XV Beacon has wonderful summer packages, don’t miss out on the most memorable summer Boston experience.

Day 1:

There are so very many fun, unique, and certifiably Boston activities to keep one busy over a weekend at one of the best luxury hotels in Boston. There is so much, in fact, it may take 2 or 3 weekends to do them all. One important thing, to keep in mind when planning, is to allow yourself time between activities to “stop and smell the roses” and get a feel for day-to-day life in The Hub of The Universe.

After arriving on Friday around noon, lunch is in order after your flight or drive. What is a quintessential lunch on a summer afternoon in Boston you ask? The ubiquitous lobster roll. These can be had while fine dining or from a takeout window by the waterfront.  Talk to your concierge team before heading out for directions to the perfect start to your weekend.

After lunch a stroll through the Boston Public Garden, America’s first Botanical Garden (Est. 1837) and the “Big Jewel” of The Emerald Necklace series of parks designed by Frederick Law Olmstead of Central Park NYC fame. Here you will see the world famous Swan Boats celebrating their 145th year of operation. If you have the kids with you be sure to pass by the Make Way For Ducklings statues on the way to the lagoon.  There are other significant monuments and dedicated memorials sprinkled throughout the Garden for you to view.

As you finish up in the Public Garden this is a perfect time to explore the Beacon Hill neighborhood, adjacent to the Public Garden. Stroll up and down Charles Street window shopping at the unique boutiques and antique shops. Get your GPS fired up and see if you can locate Acorn Street, one of the most photographed streets in America. Locate the beautiful Louisburg Square where once lived Louisa May Alcott, architect Charles Bullfinch and painter John Singleton Copley.

By now you will likely be thinking about a rest and refresh back at XV Beacon before dinner. Perhaps a late afternoon beverage on the roof deck before dressing for dinner. Check in with the Concierge to conform your dining reservation and book the Courtesy Lexus to drive you to dinner.

Day 2:

After breakfast on Saturday at our in house restaurant Mooo… Beacon Hill, you are off to your 3 hour private guided tour of the Freedom Trail. Let a knowledgeable guide bring the historic events to life as you visit the most significant historic sites in Boston. The tour ends in the North End which was once home to Paul Revere but is now the home of Boston’s Italian community. You may want to have some lunch here or continue to Charlestown and visit the USS Constitution and have lunch at the nearby Warren Tavern. George Washington once had refreshments here and it was a favorite of Paul Revere. If you have opted for the afternoon Whale Watch from Long Wharf then you would forego Charlestown, grab a slice of pizza or an Italian deli sub and head to Long Wharf for your 3 hour excursion on the water. The boat sets out for the one hour cruise to the Stellwagen Banks, a popular feeding ground for a variety of whales and marine life. You will spend one hour here under the guidance of experts from The New England Aquarium before the one hour return to the dock.

After a rest and refresh it will be time for one of the finest seafood meals you may ever have at Ostra, the finest seafood restaurant in Boston. After dinner may find you listening to live music at The Beehive in Boston’s hip and bustling neighborhood, The South End. You will have had a busy day, you’ll sleep well tonight!

After breakfast in your room on Sunday, the massage therapists, arranged by the Concierge Team at XV Beacon, will provide a relaxing couples massage of your choice for as long as you wish on this romantic getaway in Boston. Once showered and dressed afterward, it’s time for some shopping and a stroll of Newbury Street, Copley Square, and the shops at Copley Place. I know shopping always makes me a little hungry so after a few hours, a Newbury Street café for a light snack to hold you till dinner is in order. Not too much though as you will have an early dinner at Mooo…. Beacon Hill within XV Beacon before turning in early….remember you have an early flight home tomorrow.

You have already arranged the XV Beacon Lexus to take you to the airport so sleep tight and dream of your next trip to Boston!
